Chris and Julie
This was part of the Blue Tapestry Tour, which was calebrating the work of two inspirational women, Joni Mitchell and Carol King. This review was posted onto the Fairport List.
Despite inclement weather - alright it was chucking it down and blowing a gale - we set off for Hoxne to see Blue Tapestry. Well what an evening. It was great to see fine musicians playing such great music. Chris and Julie backed by Maart, Pete Zorn and Neil Marshall. Even if you do not know the songs of Carol King and Joni Mitchell it is worth going to see to see the influences on both Chris and Julie. Musician of the evening had to be Maart. Not only was he playing great electric guitar (leads permitting) but then managed to slip into Jaco Pastorius mode for a bit of fretless bass work. On top of that re-tuned one Chris's guitar strings mid song. Afterwards he said that he would be at the bar in some field in Oxfordshire later in the year. For us the next time we see Chris and Julie will be on the North Sea at the Cromer Folk festival. This weekend we are going to have to get out all our Joni Mitchell LPs and relive past times :-)
