Barton and Wilding

Friday 18th February

After a slow start we went into Barwon Heads to do the shopping. I am still amazed at the sight of a drive through liquor store. We bought a few things for lunch as well as other things we needed like postcards. In the afternoon there was a wine trip organised. We would go to 4 wineries and sample about 4 or 5 wines at each. There was a quick guide on how to taste wine as well. We had a good time sampling the wines and at one of the wineries there was a meal as well. The speciality seems to be anti pasta. These are plates with a selection of fresh fruit, cheeses and cold meats. Ok so we miss out on the meat bit, but the rest tasted delicious. We did not buy anything on the trip as we would have to drink it whilst in Australia. Taking anything home would have been pushing the baggage limit a bit! They do seem to have put the vineyards in some lovely places with superb views. It is a shame that it was a bit of a misty day. The views did not come out well at all on the camera and were edited out a long time ago.

We have found out why there are pictures of people in the beach houses we are staying in. They are stills from a TV show called Sea Change. It didn't mean much to us either. It was 'the' programme to be watching at the time but it was set in the beach houses at Barwon Heads. We are sitting in the actual "Laura's Beach House". We have seen various people wandering past looking in to see if they are in reality like they were on the TV. We wouldn't know.

In the evening there is another meal out. There were due to be more people coming but jet lag and a bug that is going round has depleted the numbers. We are all hoping that everyone is well for tomorrow. Megan has been suffering with a bad throat and she is due to sing at the wedding. By all accounts things are quite quiet with several people including the bride and groom having early nights
